Analyzing and designing can be divided into four phases: concept development, schematic development, design development, and construction documents. Phases 1 through 3 take the design closer to its completion. During the design process, costs are estimated as early as possible in a progressive manner so that a rough idea of the overall project costs can be derived. The rest of the project is also constantly under revision; it would be impossible to design the entire structural system at once and then have the building design change, requiring a complete redesign of the entire system
